Its like those geezers who prowl the streets on 'Children In Need' Day with a Bucket collecting donations,then pop down the pub to spend the 'winnings'; but i have strong reservations whether this so-called benefit 'War tape for 'War on Want'raised enough for half a lager,never mind helping Kids with Cancer. Its probably a not so clever attempt to make the Industrial artists on here look more acceptable to decent society. Just what War On Want need is a Charity record on 'Anal Probe' records...especially on Children In Need Night? What is acceptable to these ears,is the cotton wool in the ears muffled sound quality so beloved in the offices of 'Die or DIY?'.The ferric Oxide coated playback heads of your cassette player will love you for it. Especially enhancing the terrible UK82 contributions from Society's Victims, making it even crapper than it was in 1984. There's a few pretty ordinary but dull and dampened industrial droning soundscapes that please the ear,even with the ear plugs out, and the traditional appearance of BBC sound Effects volume 2,"Marching Soldiers(120bpm)"...yes the exact same one that was used on "Holidays In The Sun".Only outscored by " Breaking Glass",also on volume 2. A favourite for DIY Industrial acts everywhere. UnKommuniti had some chap from geek miesters Stereo Lab as a member,if you're interested, which you're probably not.Just filling up the space with meaningless factoids. Mass In Black sounded quite good anyway. Finishing on a comforting note: We will get our chance to Eat The Rich soon enough,when they are dragged out of their Bunkers by their own security staff,and turned over, Alive, to the baying mob. ENJOY!

I found the Album Title amusing, especially in these days here in France when Porn Hub and associated sites, have pulled out,before you've pulled off,and left a disgruntled message where before there were pies full of flying Jissom hitting various parts of a naked young lady's body now there are none or Nun.(its coming to your town soon).

There'a song called Dachau (yawn),some German marching Band samples,tapes of American evangelists,a cover dedicated to a sadist, and lots of very attractive distorted electronic sounds.

Lille Roger, or Roger Karmanik, wisely avoids the most horrific subjects,by not mentioning the terminally awful rhyming dictionary rapists ABBA, whose only other connection to the old Skool is that Chris Carter of TG had an ABBA badge proudly, or Ironically(ha ha ha) pinned on his pullover....the Irony of that acktion completely flys over my confused little bonce.

Apparently this is the chap that started the Cold Meat Industries label....er.....well done?

Refreshingly crammed with Industrial cliché, its the type of Industrial music I listen to while i'm preparing the Fondue for my lower middle class nouveau riche guests.

Well, i've never been more insulted in my life!?...these chaps seem to think Nazi's are great blokes, shocking. I've a good mind to phone the bizzies * (*a collective scouse noun for the police in Liverpool". The one man Power Electronics band, Con-Dom, used to grope female members of the ,admittedly very small, audience....until attitudes on such behaviour changed in recent years. His act would now result in serious jail time for sexual assault,all in the name of Shock Value......but that's Rock'n'Roll innit?

Most of the acts on this patience testing double C-60, spend most of their time being Whitehouse for five minutes or so,with seemingly very little interest in doing otherwise; ironic as William Bennett (the bloke in Whitehouse) himself has very little time for a few of the acts/bands featured on this exceedingly nasty compilation.

What my mother must have thought when she brought a cup of Tea up to my bedroom in the early 80's I'll never know. She seemed oblivious to the 'orrible racket emanating from these tapes,and other similar recordings of the time.Not as shocking as one may think.Similarly, my father seemed equally disinterested in the scraping and rumbling upstairs,even when one of Hitlers speeches blasted out of the noise and echoed down the street. No-one else seemed to give a Fuck either.....and y'know what I think they were right.

In the desperate struggle to achieve shock value ,the creators of this non-musicianly cacophony forgot one thing,'avoid being boring'.

I'm desensitized to noise in general,so for me,a subtle splash of melody here and there could only add to the Horror,like in a John Carpenter film......admittedly there are a couple of tracks which do have these qualities on here,but another thirty or so that certainly do not.

Don't let this put you off if you haven't yet been numbed to shock values.....exposure to such oscilloscope breaking phenomena is essential if you want to advance oneself in the subtler arts of music,and put the Roland space-echo and Hitlers' Speeches LP out to pasture.

Yeah,that's Right, I Like this tape.....a-lot.

For some reason unknown to me,Mindscan changed the UK Electronics  series name to "Beatronic" for two editions, of which this is Volume 1. Most of the Industrial stuff has gone, but, woe betide anyone who mentions it......down boy....there is a Nazi Death Camp reference.

I'm sweating blood trying to ignore it, but I can't stop myself!? There's a fine track called Treblinka, named after the semi-mythical extermination camp hidden behind some bushes at Treblinka's fake Railway terminal.

Of course there's stories of camp orchestra's,Rich jews who actually bought a ticket to travel for resettlement in relative style,approximately 5000 bodies a day gassed by the two Diesel powered Soviet Tank engines (No Zyklon B there...that was for delousing),a massive pit of Kerosene to burn the bodies to nothingness, and of the 67 survivors most were of the Sonderkommando variety, who ground down the bones,and did a great job of hiding every trace that the place ever existed,before they were to be killed....which the Nazi officials at the site inconveniently forgot to do.....so we had witnesses?

This lack of evidence has inevitably led to the usual suspects on the internet using this as proof the entire Holocaust never happened.Its fascinating stuff,like the JFK assassination where the evidence seems to fuel the conspiracy. To be gassed by Diesel fumes is a very slow process normally,and some of the emissions actually contain Oxygen.So if you're gonna top yourself in your garage,don't bother if your car is a Diesel version,and even more so if your car is Electric...although I'm sure someone, somewhere, has tried.

Electric cars just burst into flames anyway;a much quicker way to go than asphyxiation by Diesel fumes.

Anyway, the Nazi's seem to have sorted that problem out......but i heard that the engines weren't Diesel after all, that was yet another Urban Legend it seems...shame.

Some smart arsed archaeologist, has now finally done the bleeding obvious and excavated the sight,and scanned it with radar and found bone fragments,a couple of mass graves and the foundations of the alleged Gas chamber. 

Nonetheless, those naughty Nazi men did a fine job covering it up,so the conspiracy people aren't satisfied just yet.Which is good,as fake history is always more entertaining that the real thing.....ask Donald.....he doesn't even subscribe to the obvious fact that his chum Benny Netanyahu is committing a brutal Genocide on unarmed Palestinians en masse. Trump would love to be able to do that,but, its not good for business.

Well i'm sure that you are aware of what i've said in the past about ,so-called "industrial" Music,or Noise-ick,in which i claimed to be able to write an entire C-60 of Industrial music in approximately 30 minutes or less. As this cassette seems to be a C-30, i'm certain I could have made it in 29 minutes. Of course for the first tape one makes, there is always some necessary prep work to do to earn yer money,or lack of it, but subsequent works require little or no preparation at all.

The famous Artist claim that he's not a lazy fucker could always apply in that the artist is never idle,but thinking about his next masterpiece.

True, that the artwork takes longer to make than the music,but how hard is it to make an Industrial symphony that sounds exactly like the thousands of other Industrial symphony's that clog up the sewers of DIY world. 

However,if you are into such things,it does mean you can have a different Industrial tape at your dinner party for the rest of your life.This is usually why Melody exists, something totally absent from Industrial music-Zak.

Well never mind, this group's moniker caught my eye as having potential for one of my rants about current affairs.In this case the Genocide in Gaza, and the ruthless targeting of children's hospitals in Ukraine by A certain Russo-Nazi regime currently residing in Moscow.

The godparents of Industrial, Throbbing Gristle, never shied very far away from the theme of Child Killers,they even had a child-killer look alike in the group,one Genesis P. Orridge aka Neil Megson.

The Russian government, aka Mad Vlad, is full of them. They are nearly all subject to an arrest warrant from the International Criminal court. Their greatest crime, which will remain unpunished,would be the destruction of the Theatre in Mariupol, even though there were plenty of warning sign plastered all over and around the building, that the place was brimming with children.

But the fuckers destroyed it anyway,killing upwards of 600 innocent civilians and children.One of many crimes against humanity that Trumps buddy has to answer for.

Round about now, Trump, the Peace bringer, will have had his customary one on one meeting, behind closed doors, where Vlad reminds Donald of the pee-pee party he has on tape, and the weetabixed headed one will exit the room gushing with praise for the Madder one,and how he's done a beautiful deal giving away all of Ukraine's defenses;not unlike the eve of WW2.

No determinable traces of that rare beast "Proto-Rave" here my lickle fun monkeys.So move along, where we find Mindscan supremo ,Bob Maycock, stooping towards the reliable backdrop of nineties Industrial schlock....I'm Bored...but wait!...Do we smell a long lost DIY bedroom classik,or two, from inexplicably unknown Ensonique Mirage abusers (We've got a sampler and we're gonna use it), the woefully named..."Some Stumpy Goats".Who seem,inadvertently, to have created, in the form an incredibly silly tune called "Maggots In My Head", one long lost tune that would have comfortably sat among the elite on Fuck Off Records during the halcyon daze of classic UK DIY back in 1980.The other track,in what seems to have been the end of their far from dazzling career,is almost as Good ,slash, Bad. An anthemic slice of naked euphoria called, "Getting the most out of your detergent". 

A whole tape full of this stuff would have been far more preferable to any number of faithful versions of Throbbing Gristle hits plumping up the meaninglessness quota somewhat.

But, Hey, don't let that put you off,its still got some fine smoggy cassette stored industrial madness for the underexposed to glean some meager satisfaction from.

Public Image Limited – "Public Image (First Issue)" Record Store Day/Lost US Mix - Warners-2025/1979

We interrupt the fascinating run-through of a few of the Local Band compilations as of yet not not given the Die Or DIY? treatment. To make available ,thanks to Record Store Day 2025, from alternative history's what might have been section,if those awful Americano's had got their way with Thee Greatest Bad Attitude album ever made. An attitude that made Lou Reed look like lil' Jimmy Osmond.
Don't make me say it!...i'm warning you.....oh okay, it's PiL's 'First Issue'.,..The long lost USA Remix!?.....how anyone could remix perfection I can only gasp in disbelief. So,I'll have a go at re-imaging the Sistene Chapel after lunch....a liquid one of course.

Nothing....NOTHING sounded like this,or sounds like this,or will ever sound like this. We are just worthy enough to look at it,never mind hear it or even touch it.
But,apparently, according to PiL's american label,Warner Brothers, this record was just unlistenable by American ear-holes, and may damage their delicate brains enough that they could turn to Communism!
As a result this masterpiece,the UK Version as is, was never released on the other side of that great big beautiful pond,until 2013!?
It did manage to be banned in Malta however, because the lyrics of "Religion" offended public morals and decency.....er......good?
Some prat in Sounds reviewed it to be worth 2 stars our of 5?.....but fear not, it got to number 18 in New Zealand.....which may explain something about the future New Zealand scene of the 90's.
As for the 're-mix' itself,done half-arsed style, by John Leckie for £250 quid, it seems based entirely on press reports that Lydon may have been a 'Dub Reggae' fan. So out came the Space Echo, and a hefty amount of spring reverb was channeled to one of the effects knob's,and applied to Jim Donut Walkers' snare,then pushed to the back of the mix,alongside Levene's guitar, too discordant maybe(?). Worst is Lydon's front of mix vocals get the panning treatment with lashings of space echo.
The exclusion of the UK version's most attitudenus track, Fodderstompf, is at best inexplicable? Removed,as was its most controversial moment "Religion",and they don't seem to have been replaced!?
"Death Disco" from future albums sticks out as a possible single,and sounds rather over-produced in the process,when compared to the rest of the numbers.
Running time is made up by adding 4 minutes to "Annalisa" of one of the fab four tinkling on the ivories while the other three howl like pub singers in an echo chamber lock-in.
Wobble's Bass in the iconic,or is that Ironic, "Theme", has clearly had a touch of treble added.....which i ashamedly find to be an improvement...NOT that i would do that if i remixed the fucker I'll have you know. The best way to re-mix this, let's face it, Work Of Art, is to leave it alone as originally conceived,wading upstream in the psychological chaos that shat this unpolished turd on an ungrateful public...especially the Punx. Another invaluable lesson in how to alienate your audience and survive....."I will Survive,I wish I could Diiiiie"
Oh Yeah,2* out of 5 DON'T BUY IT!.....get the other re-issue,OR.......

One has to question how this noisy duo ever managed to get out of a sensible career in corrupt neutral banking to make electroacoustic nightmares such as these seven overtly digital tracks which define themselves as "Earflash".
Like the Swiss, i'm neutral on most aspects of mass genocide,art theft,and questionable sources of Gold, as long as it makes a quick crypto-profit.
However,this stuff certainly makes for a good soundtrack to melting down extracted gold teeth to fit the numbers on forged documentation. This explains why these bland bankers are responsible for the highest Bunker and firearm ownership outside of Syria and Waco Texas.
You don't hear the word 'Free' very often in this mountainous region,but Voice Crack started off as Free Jazzers back in '72, until they changed to doing a bit of yer grinding electroacoutic Noise,often collaborating with crazy Free improv nutters

Borbetomagus is a trio of Don Dietrich (reeds) Jim Sauter (reeds) and Donald Miller (guitar) and additionally Brian Doherty (electronics) Existing since the mid-seventies. This is free-improv "jazz" of the most extreme nature and its certainly not for the faint hearted, since heavy bone crushing walls of noise are their specialty.Yummy.

That sounds like something I'd like, and something that any supreme court judge in a MAGA hat would eagerly pass a death sentence or two for after the fast approaching american taliban take-over...er...takes over?

The Max Factory is Alan Licht with or without friends.....that's what it says on the inner gatefold cover of another of that "Ass Run" series on that Father Yod label what we all dig so much.

So if you've ever been Licht by anyone called Alan,you'll know what to expect.If you haven't been Licht by someone called Alan,firstly 'Why Not?!',and secondly expect lots of spontaneous guitar noise akin to the sound of nails being scraped down an amplified chalk board.

'Eavy Metal never sounded good in Dobly',and that goes even more for Noisy Improv like the appropriately named Shit Spangled Banner.

I Had DBX on my first Portastudio, the otherwise fantastic Tascan Porta One, and it was shite,removing some of the music/noise as well as the Hiss.It made it all sound like it was trapped inside a wet cardboard box.

Its a bit of a No-Brainer to not use Noise Reduction on a noise recording.

So,wisely,Shit Spangled Banner not only doesn't use 'Dobly',they state this fact proudly on the inside of this facsimile of a  BYG/Actuel sleeve.

BYG/Actuel was the French Jazz imprint that saved the creative lives of the New Wave of Jazzers like Archie Shepp and buddies in the late 60's....if you didn't know already?

The other respectful tip of the hat goes to the Father Yod/Ya Ho Wa 13 references;who were an Hawaiian based free love cult ,who played improvised acid rock,recorded it, and put it onto vinyl,which remained largely unsold.

So I suppose with all that hinting at non-conformist form of modern music,Shit Spangled Banner are gonna improvise the shit out of you until that imaginary alternative Flag self-combusts.

Punk Rock was made for compilations. One single per band, 15 minute sets per gig,and if there's anything left,of which there shouldn't be if you're a proper Punk Rock band, then that gets stuck on a compilation dunnit?

Using the same criteria for the Japanese, Punk rock was made for da Japanoise Yoof to vomit out the relentless oppression of Japanese Culture......the poor sods.

It's a bit like how da English yoof got liberated by a combination of first wave American Rock'n'Roll and ,ironically, being trapped in the poverty of a bankrupt Britain created by the massive loan...yes I did say 'Loan', that the American Government gave the Churchill Govt to buy armaments from the United States to fight the Third Reich on behalf of of the rapidly diminishing Free World.

Ironically still, no such conditions were foisted upon the axis powers after their inevitable defeat.They all got massive financial reparations to build their economies into the giants they are today.

The 'Brits', they got rationing, powdered egg and Bombed out homelessness. Punishement for giving the Japs the idea of torpedoing the enemy navy in their harbour with light aircraft....exactly what the Brits did to the Italian Navy in the Mediterranean the same year.

When they should have been working hard doing their philosophy majors at the University of Pittsburgh.Chris Scarpino,and Scott Foust decided to put their Kant and Nietzsche tome's aside and follow the confused philosophy of the recently,in 1982, deceased Throbbing Gristle to the test,and see if anyone,even Philosophy students, could give this new fangled Industrial Music a go.

And Would you credit it, the answer was a big YES.No musical ability needed,or even equipment.Melody?...too difficult.So we'll pretend that we know what we're doing,and explain it away as industrial culture.

Sounds good though,especially if you've got fuck all idea what's going on.

Ironically called Steel Negro Music,and i'm guessing here,that the steel part refers to the future 'Rust Belt' steelworks that purveys the alma mater of their university campus.....Pittsburgh,famous for the steel industry,and perfect inspiration to make this TG-alike racket.Hell, I'm a Metal Worker myself,albeit on the lazy-arsed Artistic/Autistic side of reality;one does share the enviable prospect of contracting one of the few perks of the job, like emphysema or pneumoconiosis. 

Then we have the retrospectively controversial Negro Music part ,which i'm sure refers to the male White Negro doing involuntary 'black-face'thanks to the soot festooned atmosphere inhaled by every white and Black Nigger enslaved to the American nightmare in the land of the Free;and destined to die alone in an american super-prison from acute lung disease.

However,beyond this cassette, I am not aware of any major contributions to Philosophy made by Messers Scarpino and Foust to date.You can never prove a Philosopher isn't working 24/7....its the same excuse made by Artists......just another word for Lazy Fuckers basically.

Throbbing Gristle played two shows in the USA,and they were both in California;HERE and HERE!

So, kids hear TG,then they play like TG,even securing the dubious skills of Monte Cazazza donated towards the recording of this cassette,which, by the way, features the participation(Again) of one Brad Laner;member of too many groups to remember.

So yeah, it sounds like Throbbing Gristle.There's even a few Charles Manson news reports recorded off the Television,to further flesh out the cliché.....but, i'm a sucker for some Old Skool Industrial.Its the ultimate great leveller in musical terms,like Dub Reggae.Also equally effective as background music for that fondue soirée you've been meaning to throw for the neighbours.

Anyone can do it.Zero Chords required,unlike the one that's recommended for any decent Punk rock tune,or the Mozart-like three that's needed for a Ramones/Status Quo number....Fuck That!

Ironically,as a bonus, any Industrial Artist gets to be taken semi-seriously by the chin stroking bespectacled chumbawumba set from the Artier end of town, whereas Punk Groups or Satus Quo,forward slash,Ramones are looked upon as some sort of tribe of Idiots.
