Prutsers - "Volumes 1,2,& 3 (re-post)" (Year Zero Records) & newly revived "Proto-Prutsers Tapes"....... A Tribute.

In a time when it seems lethal to be an aging pop star it will be no surprise to reveal that this plague has reached the doors of Die Or DIY? and Year Zero Records.
While Mark Stewart related posts have forced their way into the Die or DIY? top ten in the past week, I have the sad duty to announce the passing of Prutsers non-legend,and possessor of the silliest mustache since the demise of Freddie Mercury, Jan Kopp.
So you can adjust your playlists accordingly to include the Prutsers version of 'Nice'n'Sleazy' between 'Forces Of Oppression','Death Disco' and 'Hi-Ho Silver Lining' and whoever else suitable and relevantly corpsed can be included from the past few months of carnage.

Here's Henk Madrotter to say a few words in the grand ol' tradition, make ready the henkerchiefs :

"As far as saying something about Jan.... He was a very good friend of mine, me and a few other friends were always at his place from say '86 till about '90 or so, board games, making music, watching pro-wrestling, getting drunk, getting stoned.... He was always a bit of a hermit and in the last 25 years of his life he really became one, I lost contact many years ago unfortunately, specially when I moved to Indonesia in '96, he wasn't much of an e-mailer... Sad to hear of his passing, a friend went by his house a few years ago and he was in a bad condition then, very dirty, very much the alcoholic and almost not able anymore to express himself, but back in the day he was a real trooper, incredible sense of humor, a genius when it came to song writing and computer programming (those commodore 64 days) and many the times where I would've starved if it wasn't for him, back then he was the most organized from our group, always plenty of food, plenty of drinks, plenty of fun.."

"I've got a mustache and I'm gonna use it".
Jan back in those halcyon days of Post Punk in the Nether regions.

Wait...there's more.....thanks to Henk, proprietor of the 4th 'best' obscure music blog according to some weird internet search engine thingy...a tape has emerged to add to the legacy...

Madrotter explains:

"Well, I had the tape in water it sounded so bad, way better sound now, who knows, you might like some of this stuff, it's recordings, mostly Jan Kopp and Robo and sometimes them with a few friends, recorded between 1983 and 1985, before I joined and we became the Prutsers, it's ehrrr.... DIY so to say...."

Here's the tape, hope you'll like it!

If, for some inexplicable reason, you have never heard Prutsers????...so below there's a link to the original posts, including download links and more blurb etc on the subject.

Prutsers - "Volume 3" - (Year Zero Records YEAR040) 2016

You want more hopelessly obscure Dutch DIY dabblings from the eighties do you?
Thankfully Year Zero Records has cobbled together a Third(?)  volume of lunacy from Rotterdam nutters The 'Prutsers'.
Jan and Henk engaging in some light reading before an evening in front of the Television
Henk, Jan and Robo, bring you the usual, and the very unusual, madness from the squatlands of Rotterdam in the early to mid 1980's.
Robot voices mix with accordions, toy instruments, cheap samplers, and pots and pans, as The Residents get blended with Danny and the Dressmakers in a broken sonic liquidizer, then poured slowly into your ear.

Jan and Henk relaxing at home
Just think with a moments horror, what would have happened to Prutsers if they were rich, had top of the range equipment; then got put into a recording studio with a top Producer......you'd end up with something like Westlife probably, instead of Pondlife.
For sheer inventiveness alone this is worth the price of a FREE download!....surely.....its funny as well!
Jan and Robo enjoying some spare time

Prutsers - "Volume 1" - (Year Zero Records YEAR016) 2012

Prutsers recorded in the living room from Jan in Rotterdam between 1983 and 1987. This is classic and hopelessly obscure DIY, intended only for the ears of those close enough to get a free cassette copy, and essentially lacking in any ambitions to get anywhere in the rock and pop treadmill.
They sound rather like  the motherless sons of The Residents and an Oompah band. Obscure Inspired Insanity at its most obscure and inspired.
Especially fine are the cover versions of rock and pop standards, which firmly put those upstarts in their place, and then piss on their smoking entrails.

Henk Madrotter explains the Prutsers Raison d`etre....."we used any kind of instrument we could get our hands on, kids toys and sometimes a commodore 64, mostly recorded with a mic to a cassette recorder with the "ping pong" method and later with a 4 track cassette recorder.... we did weird covers and we also did covers as cheesy as possible and lots of our own songs in all kinds of styles depending our mood and who ever was there for recording, but mostly it was me, jan, patrick and robo."
He continues on the tenuous subject of influences!!!!....."most of us came out of the old Rotterdam punk scene and we were heavy influenced by bands like snakefinger, einsturzende neubauten, this heat, throbbing gristle, the whole neue welle you name it. We made music on any instrument we could get our hands on and the cassettes that we made, we never sold them but plenty of people were copying them."
