Peter Sotos – "Buyer's Market" (AWB Recording – AWB 016) 1992

Hmmmm,Rolf Harris died yesterday....so I thought....this....?!
Perhaps the only album on this blog that has been made by a person convicted for the possession of child pornography....(no.not Steve Albini!!!!). The Putrid Voyeurism collected on this brutal compilation of  victims accounts of sexual violence, would be explained away as a grim portrait of the Human capacity for ...for want of a better word...Evil?.....were it not made by a geezer who blatantly gets off on stuff like this. No-one called the Moors Murderers 'Artists' did they. And i'm sure Sotos would go to any lengths to get his grubby little hands on the Lesley Anne Downey tape made by Brady and Hindley back in the day,an obvious  obsession of his, as Lesley appears on the front cover of this CD,and even appears as the main subject in one of his books, "Selfish,Little...".
As aural Pornography goes, this is a far less subtle, but equally disturbing, honest, version of "Come on Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears, and other similar Aural sex Pop Vehicles for corporate satanic abuse rings.
When I first heard this collage ,I inexplicably played it straight through, and disturbingly felt precisely nothing, except a modicum of boredom. Was I a Monster, Am I a Monster?
Repeating this process some 30 years later, I got quite effortlessly upset at several points in this thoroughly unwholesome experience.........the boredom was still there, but It seems I am no longer a monster? Why is this? Is it that we are protected from truths such as these in this modern age,or are we more emotionally empathetic ......very trendy.Or am I depressed enough to allow the real effect of this exploration into the darker side of human nature penetrate, what i previously thought, was my desensitized black heart.
During the height of Grunge, Nirvana's producer somehow thought it was a jolly good idea to edit Soto's tapes into the collage we pretend not to know and love today. Our Steven would have had to play and listen to these harrowing accounts hundreds of times before his job was finished;then the poor sod had to go and produce Nirvana after this?Including the tasteless "Rape Me" tune........recorded(not produced) by the four-eyed grunge psychopath himself? Albini was in a band called Rapeman after all I suppose?
What Sotos, the Artist, not the Perv, examines here is the Culture of the Victim– how family members left behind are manipulated by the media, and ultimately, how their identity is redefined in the process.
Perhaps one of the starkest documents, assembled for maximum impact, accounting the darkest side of human nature on the booming industrial culture 'Buyers Market'.I feel Dirty....as in unclean rather than 'Got the 'orn!?' in the Derek and Clive sense.Although i rather suspect Peter Sotos likely got 'The 'Orn',and knocked one,if not several out frequently during the process of acquiring the recordings for this dubious piece of 'Art'.
Alas,be it far more offensive and disturbing than anything any of those snowflake Death Metal/Grindcore bands could ever possibly come up with. They're just playing with it,silly boys.Which is in fact worse than Britney Spears and her awful daddy.
If you're not moved by this profoundly disturbing record in any way, except,of course, turned on sexually (turn yourself into the nearest police station if this is the case), you probably are the fucking monster I no longer am and Fuck you.

Territorial Gobbing – "Capitalist Art Is Cartoons Fucking" (Opal Tapes – OPAL161) 2019

Leeds' least favourite dada noise improv thing, it says on his (Theo Gowens) website. And there's me thinking Territorial Gobbing was Leeds' fourth favourite dada noise improv thing;not that I can name the other three in the top four. But maybe fourth place is also last place automatically making the original statement very very true, and ,again, I am very very wrong.Ah well, Art,capitalist or otherwise, isn't about league tables anyway is it? After all, there are many musical genres that anyone would be very proud to be in last place of,or in first place if that particular table happens to be 'Least Favourite'.Something that Leeds is very used to concerning their Football fans, as has been noted earlier in this blog.
However, even within the dark community of improvised dada-ist noise, there are very few brave enough to ask the big questions.
"Are Militant Atheists Using Chemtrails To Poison The Angels Of Heaven" being one of them.
Never one to shy away from bat-shit crazy conspiracy truthisms, and a former militant Atheist,I would say the likelihood of chemtrails being anything other than the harmless vapour trails that have appeared behind aircraft engines since the second world war,is extremely negligible.Bill gates is, sadly, NOT attempting to reduce the world population by spraying an un-identified chemical over the western world, presumably letting africa off??. Also it is looking increasingly likely that we will save Bill the trouble, by starting that long promised Nuclear conflict we are all eagerly waiting for.
The ultimate answer for this question that is on everybody's lips(not) is childishly simple.......go fuck yerselves you toxically paranoid carriers of a terminal internet sickness and fucking DIE!
There is a very convincing argument that the World Wide Web should be shut down....no not the existence of this blog you bastards!....the conspiracy theory of everything, is one, seeding a perfect storm with the gender fluid re-education that is fucking up Generation Y (Why?).
If there is a conspiracy going on, its this AI tech turning on its creators ,the HAL 9000 syndrome. Our quantum enabled machinery has found the perfect way to remove the human element, alternative Facts and post-Truth are turning us into a bunch of asexual, gender fluid, aggressively paranoid Twats, who's approach to the Climate emergency is to increase carbon emissions, and become rapidly extinct. Guess who doesn't care if the atmosphere of the planet is fucked or not...yep...our Quantum Computer chums.Never trust a technology that doesn't work if you're observing it;a place where the word Binary doesn't involve gender identity panic,it's the ruthless computer language that is inevitably planning humanity's downfall.Oxygen's for snowflake and the next stage of evolution is upon us....have i said this shit before?.....just ignore me,have panic sex if you want to,but we're doomed and there's no point in banging on about it...lets Boogie!

Jody And The Creams – "Lords Of The Gromet Canning Factory" (Cordelia Records) 1998

Two slabs of almost seamlessly segued Indie collage experimentation from Deep freeze mice relations, the Creams with Jody, before they dropped the 'Jody' part and went all full cream on us.
Eight years after the debut long player, the formula has not changed,a lump gravy collage, furtively recorded girly chat, mixed up with some funny noises and half finished art pop numbers.Featuring the farewll appearances of Ariadne Metal-Cream Pie,and Ruth 'Po!' Miller.
The charming Blodwyn P. and her Organ.

Alan Jenkins and Blodwyn P. Teabag would carry it on in the Jody-less Creams, whom I understand were almost popular at some stage?
NB:
A sense of humour is required.

Stanlow Crickets – "Navigation Of Loplop" (Sound Of Pig – SOP #144) 1988

This bloke called Philip Seifert is responsible for this ,undoubtedly with the assistance of Al Margolis one would assume,it being on his Sound Of Pig cassette label.
Kerazzy musique concréte,with liberal use of a second hand emulator to blind the less informed with yesterdays science.
Yeah it gets on yer Tits, but somebody out there who was locked in a cupboard for their early adulthood will find this very novel indeed.
Its certainly fun to listen to the cutting edge of low budget sound technology in 1988,especially by persons who were thankfully clueless as to what those charming,....and this part is satirical,so don't cancel me,.... coloured gentlemen,... were doing with the same kit in Chicago and Detroit at the same time.....ie, stuff like this with a marching beat and a lot of electronic squelching noises stuffed in there....("Acid House is two minutes and 30 seconds of squelching noises" said an anonymous wag in 1988,rather like John Lydon's description of the sex act a decade earlier?...ok,rumbled....it was me wot said it,about five minutes ago!Ok?
As I notice that Jeremy Clarkson got cancelled by Jeff Bozos this morning for saying this very Die Or Diy observation on the subject of the lovely Megan Markle....i will repeat:
"At night, I'm unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, 'Shame!' and throw lumps of excrement at her." ....couldn't have possibly put it better myself.
The axe is being wielded for offense givers such as we and he,as one heads in a runaway bus towards the dull and sinister world of terminal fucking boredom during the horrors of the oncoming 'Nice' revolution....the exact opposite of Skullflowers superb "Exquisite Fucking Boredom" album (up next),but something more akin to "La Terreur" after the first bit of the French Revolution;except in that terror, you could still make a joke and survive.
Yes i did say 'Charming Coloured Gentlemen'...soon to be a capital offence punishable by forcing this smart arse to clean out the latrines of the Re-education centers that were once our homes. My father did the same thing during his incarceration by the Nazi's in World War 2, cleaning out the 'twenty holer',as he put it, latrine in the POW Camp.
The old newspeak word 'Degenerate' will be replaced with the Nadsat friendly term,'Offensive' in the realms of art and entertainment.
But at least the Nazi's oganized sn exhibition before they burnt it.Hide your hard-drives in a lead lined box before the "Great Erasure"....no,not the pop duo, the satellite Erasure beam that will cleanse the earth of anything Offensive. The Year Zero of Nice.

Amok – "Warm Leeches Dance" (ADN – ADN TAPES 17) 1985

There are two modern musical idioms that Italians seem to have taken a rosy view upon,Progressive Rock being the most obvious, and the other, being that which is loosely termed 'industrial'. A genre, that is in fact, Progressive Rock for persons who can't actually play any instruments, unless left field literature is an instrument?
Here we find Mr Amok ,Enrico Piva, giving us a lesson in overthinking, inspired by Freud's "Jenseits des Lustprinzip (Death Pulsion)", which we've all read haven't we?
Of course the word 'Death' has to make an appearance, but thankfully Enrico has mercifully left out any boringly obvious Nazi references......which makes me think that this isn't Industrial music at all...that's for arse-lickers. This is more like a sound installation, made for an audience of chin stroking sub-intellectual posers who really wish they were at a Van Der Graaf Generator gig...I know I do.
Genesis P. being Ironic..... Again!?
I bet you he'd read "Jenseits des Lustprinzip"....or maybe wishes he had?

Amok, however non-amok this tape is,is perfect background muzak for your Abstract Impressionism soirée held every other Tuesday at the community centre;but if you last ten minutes into side one I'll give you a candy bar, augmented by a nice squishy Leech or two.
It was, however, recorded in a steel barge in Finland after all?

Genocide Association – "Sonik Lobotomy Demo Tape" + "Sonik Lobotomy Bootleg EP" (self-released) 1983

As a bit of a fair-weather Hardcore Punk fan,if I can,or endorse someone else, being a fan of anything; wot are my bestest three Hardcore albums?......this kind of behaviour strays dangerously into record collector twat-geek territory, but, believe me there is a point to all this, just bare with me.
I like that first Discharge Album,if you can actually call Discharge Hardcore,it sounds more like an avant garde masterpiece to me.Then top of the US Hardcore tree has to be Jerry's Kids' rather good "Is This My World" record....was that drummer on some type of performance enhancing drugs I wonder?
So, number one has to be, no not Minor Threat, nor,Napalm Death mk1,and incredibly not even Impulse Manslaughter.
Of course, and you may have already guessed....especially as the title is on display at the top of the page, It's ,from the home of Grindcore,Nottingham's own, Genocide Association innit?
105 brief tracks,or one long track depending on how you hear it, of cut'n'paste hardcore plunderphonia squeezed into 30 fun filled minutes.Apparently Minor Threat did actually get looped somewhere on this tape.....there's a prize for he who locates it.
What makes this even better is, in the proud tradition of fake bands,Genocide Association are nothing more than Dig of earache Records, before he'd heard of Thatcher's Enterprise allowance scheme....yes,Thatcher gave us Napalm Death and Grindcore...and mate Dayve from some other group. They had the bright idea to cut up a bunch of Hardcore demo tapes, rejig the constituent parts and make some rather crazed backing tracks for their shouty vocals. So, ideologically, this tape has a lot going for it in the Die or DIY? ethos of copying obscure cassette works from the punk hinterland and giving them new life. This was early Plunderphonics for want of a better synoptical cliché. If John Oswald had come up with this, it would have been lauded as an Avant-Garde statement of Noble Prize winning proportions.....rather like Discharge's first album. There are times when one asks oneself,"What the fuck am I Listening to"?...Which is the number one,and increasingly rare, look-for moment in any music is it not?
As mentioned in The Maximum Rock and Roll musical toilet paper, and Hardcore Bore Bible:
"Genocide Association (are) A bunch of xtreme nihilists/anartwits who despise the widely held concept of 'Anarchie' .. Possess no instruments.. Cynical to the point of lunacy."

How much more 'Punk' can one get than having no instruments, believing in nothing as controlling or as silly as Anarchy as your raison d'etre, and best of all, never playing a gig.
The fact that this was before samplers were affordable, and all this was done by laboriously editing the vocal-less parts from a pile of Punk Rock cassettes onto a couple of Cassette decks riff by riff, play/record/pause, change tape, repeat,is nothing short of inspiring .So the time signature can get a trifle eccentric from time to time, and the patchwork style sonik quality is endearingly inconsistent, veering from rich boy demo studio quality to one mike in a garage static fog
So, yeah, this is the best Hardcore Punk Recording of Allllll Time, musically and ideologically....Discuss.

7 From Life ‎– "Sting Of The Honey Spider" (Inner-X-Musick ‎– XXX 27) 1985

He had the name of a Porn Star, and the looks of a toilet cleaner, but Lawrence Van Horn's recorded output is probably the best stuff on the Inner-X-Musick label.Another from the Nurse With Wound sonic collage school, who had in turn nicked it from former 'Homosexual' Jim Whelton, and his various terminally obscure cassette releases; the most well-known being L.Voag. It turns out that NWW had appropriated virtually everything to make their first album, and i'm sure Larry uses the same time-trusted method with his sound sources.
To blot his copybook a tad, Van Horn was in several line-ups of the not-so-good,and very dated sounding, Sleepchamber, but don't let that put you off.

Delia Derbyshire and Barry Bermange -"Inventions For Radio No.3: The Afterlife" (1965)

The third in a cycle of inventions for radio by Barry Bermange, in collaboration with the BBC's Radiophonic Workshop. An attempt to reconstruct in sound the spiritualistic vision of Death and Eternity. It is conceived as a dream of Death. Using the montage process of the earlier programmes, 'The Dreams' and 'Amor Dei', the author has arranged in settings of electronic sound provided by the immortal Delia Derbyshire.A collection of voices of people who are now likely to have found out if their beliefs were correct,or have disappeared into the eternal darkeness and silence of oblivion. Recorded from life before death in four movements.
Its this kind of stuff that makes paying your taxes a pleasure.
If Kluster had made this in 1969,it would have been hailed as a proto-industrial masterpiece, and proof of how the Krautrockers invented Ambient.Nah! It all began here, with a bit of help from John Cage,Pierre Henry,Edgard Varese, and maybe Louis And Bebe Barron....but none of those got anywhere near the articulate structured brilliance of the Dr.Who theme from whence sprung electronic pop.

Delia Derbyshire and Barry Bermange -"Inventions For Radio No.2: Amor Dei" (1964)

The second fantastic slice of 'Inventions For Radio' by the legend that is Delia Derbyshire, and Barry Bermange. This time the subject for the public of 1964 to discuss is the subject of 'God'.
Then there's the task of creating backing music that invokes a feeling of the true horror of life, fear of death, yet can also represent the natural spirituality of human superstition.
When Delia asked Barry Bermange what he wanted musically, he drew a sketch of a church altar over the notes for the dialogue track.
"He wanted sounds which would sound like a Gothic altarpiece. 'Oh,' I said, 'yes. What a good idea. But what do you really mean? What sort of sounds?' He said 'Well, give me a pencil and paper'. I did, and with great care and elaboration he drew me a beautiful Gothic altarpiece and said 'That's the sort of sound I want'." (Delia Derbyshire 1964)
Barry's inspiring sketch...a lesson in how to write music.
Barry Bermange said that he himself thought of Amor Dei as ‘rather in the manner of a Renaissance painting with the believers in God in the foreground or centre and half-hidden disbelievers looking out from shadowy places round the edge of the painting.’
This programme was made in four sections. In the first you will hear several thoughtful voices groping towards God, feeling their way into something undefined. In the second, some more assured voices cite concrete images; a defined notion of God begins to emerge. The third is a contest between those who love God and those who cannot believe in Him. The assured and confident voices in the last section are inspired by absolute faith.

The actual effect of this haunting piece,is the pure gothic horror of mortality and the plunging depths of infinity,in which the abstract choirs and aging believers seem to be drowning.
Quite an extraordinary and powerful piece of work that lay hidden in the vaults of the BBC for decades, and I struggle to think of another piece that can match its wide ranging encapsulation of this profound subject.

Delia Derbyshire and Barry Bermange -"Inventions For Radio No.1: The Dreams" (1964)

"Dreams" was made in collaboration with Barry Bermange (who originally recorded the narrations). Bermange put together The Dreams (1964), a collage of people describing their dreams, set to a background of electronic sound, provided by Delia Derbyshire. In true BBC style, Delia's name isn't mentioned in the Radio Times listing,it's just the BBC Radiophonic Workshop that gets the collective credit.
The original PsycheDelia

However, Dreams is a rather sinister collection of spliced and reassembled interviews with people describing their dreams, particularly the recurring elements, represented here in five movements, such as running away, falling, landscape, drowning, and colour. The stuff of nightmares.

These programmes, only designed to be broadcast once, then earmarked for erasure, with Barry Bermange, are arguably Delia's second greatest moments......the greatest, much to her chagrin, is obviously the original Doctor Who Theme;but artistically,Inventions for Radio blow that proto-synth pop miesterwerk out of the very water that the subjects of this broadcast were drowning in.

Larry Wendt ‎– "Mythologiques" (Ocean Records/Composer Cassettes ‎– Vol.4) 1975

All I've got to say about this early Larry Wendt cassette has been said in my post on the later Wendt work "Sound Poems For An Era Of Reduced Expectations"
So, as this came with a pamphlet in the words of Larry himself, you can read about it in the great man's own blurb below. Even though I don't approve of artists explaining themselves, it saves me from straining my brane trying to think of something amusing to say.....suely I'm entitled to a day off....this tape is ridiculously good by the way, lots of spooky whispering, which is always the trade mark of the shy artist working alone in a room with family members near-by or arsehole neighbours ready with threats of phone calls to the authorities...or worse ....take it away Lazza.......

A spoken word album of self-penned,like who else is gonna write stuff like this(?) short stories, lyrics, poetry, keyboard and sound effects, and some fragments of Fall songs, mixed as one continuous track......that's the bleeding obvious stuff out of the way.
Our Mark E. Mark only made two solo albums of using, primarily, the power of the spoken word. This forty minute collage is the last one he was to make.I kinds prefer this to virtually any Fall thing from 1991 onwards.
He does in fact mention the great Jimmy Bloomfield, manager of the 1970's version of Leicester City FC, which is a rare thing indeed.
He's a unique combination of comedian and poet, and its a joy to hear him relaxed and enunciating his words almost like it was 1982 again, rather than the slurring pisshead he sadly became. Here he sounds like the kind of popular dinner guest and raconteur that can make your cheese and charcuterie soirée swing.

Brion Gysin ‎– "Recordings 1960-81" (Perdition Plastics ‎– PER 004) 1995

Here we go again.....anyone called Brion, not Brian,or Bryan, is certainly posh and reeks of privilege. With a brief bit of research these suspicions were confirmed.Educated at a Fancy public school near Bath (UK),and by the age of 18 he was studying at the Sorbonne in Paris. Hangin out with the likes of Max Ernst's missus, Salvador Dali and Picasso in the "Surrealists Group", from which he was inexplicably expelled by André Breton,as happened frequently were i came from, all at the age of 19. Needless to say,if you were of modest means it would be extremely doubtful you would be anywhere near André Breton, never mind being expelled from the community centre for crimes against Surrealism. I, for one,was never sent home from the local underclass abstract expressionism club and ,thankfully, never had to explain to my mum that Mark Rothko had me expelled for not being abstract or expressive enough, and could I invite Willem de Kooning over for beans on toast later?
The only art happening where I came from, was the odd swastika sprayed on a wall over the admitedly abstract phrase of "Pakis Out"*. Nowadays those very same 'Pakis' are spraying stuff like 'Brexit Now' to get rid of the Poles. Epitomised by the new tory Home Secretary, a child of ugandan asians, who is determined to shut the door on any more poor immigrants...like her parents were? Fucking Insane!
I don't wanna go through Gysin's life story, but lets just say, he never seemed to need a job,and drifted effortlessly around the globe meeting up with famous artist and bohemian types of all statures.
Most famed for the re-invention of the Dada-ist 'cut-up Technique, which was in fact nothing new,and gave it to William Burroughs to mess around with.Burroughs explained that Gysin was "the only man that I've ever respected in my life. I've admired people, I've liked them, but he's the only man I've ever respected."...slightly arrogant?
I suspect that Burroughs was the victim of that intellectual arrogance that all Public School boys, and upper class twits in England get drip fed at birth, even if they know fuck-all,which generally is the case.I'd say Bill respected Gysin because he was intellectually intimidated by those insideous British upper-class vibes,as most Americans are.
As far as I can see Gysin was just more inventive in his stealing from the past, and could explain it all away as his own doing, without actually saying so.
However These writings and sound experiments were a considerable influence on the Industrial Music, and culture of the late seventies......so says I.
Gysin enjoyed messing with language ,what makes a word a word, and how easily words change their meaning,or effect, by just rearranging a few letters or their speed. One short phrase could be transformed into a new language......or,as is the case in most of these pieces, into complete stuff of nonsense.
The same could be done with sounds,as in the Pistol Poems, with vari-speeded recordings of a gunshot, which he made for the BBC. A resurrection of another Dada-ist idea,'The Sound Poem'
This CD has all of Gysin's most influential recorded moments collected in one place.
Best listened to with one of Gysin's other claims to fame, he and Ian Sommerville's "Dream Machine",which was probably just the work of Sommerville, and Gysin named it afterwards?:

*Paki is a derogatory term used generally for anyone from the asian subcontinent, and is even used for Arabic and semetic people by the ignorant. The equivalent of the 'N' word but for asians. I've even heard it used by Indians as an insult to white people, as in "White Paki"......its crazy ol' world out there innit?

Christian Heckel & Frank Bretschneider ‎– "Berlin Bei Nacht - (Eine Elektrische Text Musik Collage)" (klangFarBe ‎– FBk 003) 1985.

Frank Bretscheider's mangled electronica, assisted by the text of Christian Heckel, and the voices of the 'Kummers',last seen in AG Geige;delivered as a collage in the tradition of "Lumpy Gravy",L. Voag and "Canaxis".
The Berlin by night bit,or,rather, East Berlin by night, probably refers to the time of day it was recommended to make subversive sounds like this without attracting the attentions of the more unsavory sectors of DDR society.
Studio Sonnenklang, where all these KlanFarBe tapes were made, was highly likely to have been bugged by the Stasi anyway. So the Karl-Marx-Stadt branch of the Secret Police wasn't so bad after all it seems.Maybe Bretschneider could claim the Stasi tapes and make a volume two,or an extra collage for the deluxe reissue whenever it appears?

The Merry Pranksters - "The Acid Test Reels" (Bootleg) 1966

Hey cats,Dig Those Crazy Beatniks getting off their tits dude. A psychedelically painted school bus full of middle class drop outs ,pseudo intellectuals, and proto-psych muso's try to outdo each other  for 'crazy' weirdness maaaan,on a trip, both chemically and physically, around the posher parts of the US of A.
The music ,mainly by the nascent Grateful Dead, is mostly dreadful.....The Dreadful Dead.
Sounding like a really bad version of The Banana Splits, but with less depth.
Lots of crap white boy blues riffs and rock'n'rooooolllllll maaaaaan. They sound like a right bunch of hipiddy-doody twats on a trustfund cop out mission to make everyone they meet as pointless as they were. Personal freedom maaaan.......i notice they were free enough to do a drug fuelled trip around the USA.Maybe if they'd have done it in East Germany,or through Africa handing out food rather than LSD there would have been a worthwhile point to all this spoilt brat Counter Culture posing.
The Merry Pranksters, like a 1950's university fraternity reunion, are less annoying than Gerry Garcia's psychedelic cheerleaders.
They tend to use the word 'Rap' a lot, which was 'hip' talk for talking for the Beat generation. The spoken word sections and the tape collages are a better recreation of what it was like to be out of your skull on the Acid Tests of 1966.It is also an accurate portrayal of what a pain in the arse it is to around some idiot off his tits on drugs. There is no more boring a person than a person on any class A,or class B for that matter, drug.Alcohol is also included in this observation.
Just imagine being stuck on a bus with thirty or so of them quaffing jug loads of LSD.You'd be well advised to join them or be bored shitless.
Anyway, here's 6cd's worth of the recordings made during the Acid Tests of 1966.If you like bad blues riffs, 'poets' talking through echoplex tape effects, oscillator twiddling, and interviews with some trustafarian psychedelic narcisists, then this is for you.You can almost feel that you were there, even if you're glad you weren't.
Artists huh?

Prick Decay ‎– "Junk Operatics: Quasi Thot Stimulants". (Betley Welcomes Careful Drivers) 1995

Prick Decay must be Scottish, and they are apparently? I say they, its mainly a chap called Dylan Nyoukis, and anyone daft enough to collaborate with him....which at some point included alt-rock eternal teenager Thurston Moore, late of Sonic Youth.
At least Pete Townsend only mentioned a wish to die before he got old in a song that wasn't necessary to play every night, but Sonic Youth had the word 'Youth' out front, even when they were very visibly, NOT young. Ahhhh, the optimism of the younger generation, too young to really know disappointment, and too stupid to realise that we're all gonna get old and die.
Listening to the jumbled racket of Prick Decay, its obvious that Dylan knows all too well the rapidly approaching inevitablity of the curtains closing on the sick pantomime of 'life'.
His patented (not) method of sound construction, which he calls , Junk Operatics,is nothing new or inovative;its something everyone was doing from the incept date of DIY back in the late seventies when the humble cassette recorder became affordable for council estate scum like me.
We just didn't have the arrogance to give it a name.It like saying you'd invented Country and Western a few weeks ago while sitting on the Bog.
He's even written a full A4 thesis on the subject, included with the tape, that sets out the various 'types' of J.O. that are possible.
He could have also invented the Abstract Impressionism that adorns the cover for all we know......he probably thinks so.
Yes Dylan?.....tell us unworthy specimens of your genius:

It's a bit blurry, but basically here's the abridged version:

"Junk Operatics is the basic overlaying of four or more sounds.
the important thing to remember is the sounds should be recorded without listening to any of the sounds previously recorded, that way the random factor is added and the Opera is fuelled." (D.Nyoukis,1995)

Indiscreet Music ‎– "Dubious Collaberations" (Object Music ‎– OBJ 002) 1979

Another, earlier, coll-(aberation)by The Noyes Brothers, aka The Two Stevens, Solamar and Miro."A collage of improvisations full frequency claustrophobic sound", they say.
Basically a bunch of noodlings, improvistaions, and half-formed tunes, all stitched together, 'Faust tapes' style; to form two sides of an LP. Solamar and Miro's pre-punk roots are fully exposed on this one.

Side A - Part One

Die Trip Computer Die - "Abyss" (self-released CD-r) 2004

Apparently there's about 17 'Die Trip Computer Die' CD-r's doing the rounds from around the turn of the millennium. This is one that has escaped total obscurity to tickle your lug holes and stimulate your hypothalamus.
This one is very much more Post-Club, plunderphonic samplerdelic mindfuckery. Like Trip-hop fed trough a sausage making machine with added spice in place of the pure cubes of unpalatable fat. There's nothing I'd enjoy more than feeding Tricky or Massive Attack through a mincer, and selling them back to the 'hip' ganja toking clubbing clique as tastless sausages.Smoke this sausage if you dare?
DTCD, do dance culture deconstruction effortlessly, mixing it up as a nice fluffy omelet to compliment your Trippy Tricky sausage.

Die Trip Computer Die - "All Shag Ringo" (Self-released CD-r) 2004

In the grand tradition of Die Computer Trip Die,I've plundered a recycled review of this great ,very privately released record in a language I can't understand, by a member of the public on some forgotten web-site., somewhere out there; and Die Trip Computer Die are certainly very 'out there'; as deliberately obscurely as anybody has ever been.......to sell-out a little, i can reveal that this is distantly Homosexuals related, so you now know that its very good indeed......if a trifle smart-arse,but the 'Good' kind of smart-arse.
Take it away Fabio R.......:

(Fabio R.)

I couldn't agree more Fabio......er.....what did you say again?
