Burzum - "Reh" (Self-Released Demo Cassette) 1991

Ooh Errrr.....you know you're in trouble when the seriously mentally ill bass player from Mayhem starts photocopying Aleister Crowley´s Astrum Argentum order sigil and uses it as a cover for his Demo. The one he sent to Euronymous, the Top chump in Mayhem, in '91.
Somehow Euronymous like it a lot and offered Jew hating Varg (Burzum)the recently vacated position of Bass Player in Mayhem.Yes the band that bust a blood vessel trying too hard to be the most infamous, most darkest, most fucked up Black Metal band in the whole of Christendom......well,..er...in Norway,at least.
If you've come here for some full blast raw Black Metal you may be disappointed? Recorded on a single mike placed in the centre of the room, this can only be described as......well,Crap?
Three tracks of slow Black Metal it says on the insert. Slow it maybe,Black-ish it ain't,Metal, certainly NOT, but it does have a meandering but muffled foggy charm that reminds one of the good ol' days of Fuck Off Records
Euronymous saw the potential anyway?
The first ambient Black Metal band anyone?
Its a pity that the dearly departed leader of Mayhem couldn't have also spotted that Varg of Burzum, was a complete nut-job fruit loop sociopath who would kill him a few short years, plus a few immolated Norwegian churches later.
Its all just a bit of fun kids, don't take it all so effing seriously...especially Black Metal for fucks sake!? Sometimes its more subversive to sell out,and fade away?

Die Öwan – "Öwanism" (XA Record – XA-2007) 1981

Firstly,I have no idea what the Tracklisting is,but the pix and info here are the best I can be bothered to put forward. Its largely irrelevant anyway.Just see it as 4 long tracks that merge together to become something Avant Garde filtered through the dirty underpants of the collective teenage mind......which this stuff is ,if accidentally ,which always beats the deliberate nonsense that the intellectual elite like us to see as something unattainable.But...There are two types of unattainable; the genuinely unattainable or the pretentious shite that no-one wants to 'attain' anyway. The coming age of Artificial Stupidity is upon us,so the unlearning process that we hear mentioned so often is on its way like a cavalry of good taste coming to kill their women and children in the name of Art. Machines will free us from slavery very soon, and we can live the Nietzchean utopia of the creative ubermensch .
This particular example of Nietzchean Ubermenschen called Die Owan from former the former Axis Hinterland of Japan, involves the DIY lo-fi Punk of a couple of Teenage sons of Nippon banging out endless numbers of short barks and enregistering them within the noble medium of Audio Cassette, back in the daze.
Are these Prats the Japanese Prats, or West Germany's own bunch of Prat-a-like Punk Kinder Die 2.Liga
Who knows? Who cares? Either way, its great simple Japanese bedroom thrash,by those who had obviously heard Wire's 'Punk Flag' a few years after it's release. In fact somewhere within the rumpus there pops up a Wire cover, and even "Bored Teenagers" by The Adverts makes an unexpected, but welcome appearance. Dee Dee Ramone countin's and a frantic TR 606 drum machine, makes this an exhausting experience,so when you've had enough, just click the stop button and sit in a darkened room for half-an hour, then hopefully you may forget....until the next time....then you're back in the room

Mütiilation – "Satanist Styrken" (Self-Released) 1994

If you thought Darkthrone were the epitome of Zero-Fi Black Metal, then you......understandably....haven't heard Mütiilation. A French(!!?) Black Metal outfit who released a bunch of cassettes in the mid nineties, until they were fished from the muddied pond and honored with a release of  one of their many unreleased albums on Vinyl and CD. It still sounded as if it was recorded in an oil drum rolling between lanes on the M25 london orbital, but you could charge money for this!....a career beckoned until, band leader, Meyhna'ch.....as he called himself, probably Cedric Arnaud or something equally as bland in real life.....until Cedric, declared himself Dead, and the group ended.
He wasn't really Dead of course, so this led to the re-animation of Mütiilation, as a solo project for Meyhna'ch in 2001.

WCKR SPGT – "The Charles Mansion: A Rock Opera By WCKR SPGT" (Traumatone – TT28) 1986

Another band name that won't get you on the Billboard Hot Ten Million,or even featured in a liberal conversation on the subject of obscure bands, because no-one can remember the name or pronounce it. Prince tried it with his 'symbol' concept, and that went tits-up, as did that eighties band, belatedly called Freur, when previously they only had a prince before Prince symbol as their moniker.Sadly, I am informed, Freur went on to become the profoundly irritating one hit wonder middle-aged ravers,Underworld,or was that Underpants?

The Freur symbol as seen on their smash 1983 number 17 hit in New Zealand, "Doot Doot".
I suppose WCKR SPGT come under the pranksters with lucrative day-jobs category, the UK equivalent  being something like The Ceramic Hobs, or Danny and the Dressmakers.
Apparently they've released a new album called "Hackney Diamonds", which by sheer coincidence happens to be the title of the new Rolling Stones album.Ho! Ho! Those cheeky Monkeys.
Skipping through their long established website, I spotted one Michael Gerald ,late of the group Killdozer contributing vocals on a duet with an Wckr Spgt-er, so they must be ok...yeah?
However, what fooled me into taking notice was the enticing prospect of some complete idiot making a Charles Manson Musical.
Only later did I realise that the title spelled Mansion and not Manson...i felt cheated, but isn't that what this lot are all about?
Merry Pranksters in the tradition of the KLF and Negativland, but with shitter music.
They must all be well in their 60's by now, having formed in 1981,but they're still chucking out the pranks it seems....and why the fuck not?
Oh,.... the music?
Its lo-fi DIY in the style we all know and love.Lots of echo on the Resident-esque hi-pitched vocals,with what hints at Harmoniser ownership in places;further raising my suspicious shell-likes to the well-paid dilettante possibilities, as an eventide Harmonizer cost a kings ransom back in the 80's. These chaps had a well paid job or two in their ranks.
Disappointed at the lack of a Manson Musical on these cassettes,a lead role tailor made for Michael Ball, and Ashley Banjo's Diversity street dancers as the Family....ON ICE!....wow!? I will now have to console myself with a fun moment, thinking only of my fantasy Rock-Opera Musicals.....someone already did "Plan Nine From Outer-space" didn't they...bastards!
I've got lots of Idea's for a musical about the Waco Siege, featuring Wayne Sleep as David Koresh? its just the problem as to who owns the copyright to Koresh's songs?
If its his surviving kids, forget it...they think I'm an Asshole....which isn't entirely inaccurate one must admit!?...you didn't know I was so Humble did you?
I'll suggest a Lucy Letby musical to my fellow justice seekers, including some dancing Babies and Michael Flatley as an evil jewish senior Doctor disguised as a loveable Irish consultant......P.S. have you selfish fuckers signed the free Lucy Letby Petition yet?...NO?...FFS...click here then!?

Robert Ridley-Shackleton – "Stone Cold Crazy" (Crow Versus Crow – CVC010) 2018

I noticed recently, that there is no such thing as a group anymore. All the charts are full up of so-called 'Solo artists'(like RRS), who are there strictly for their aesthetically pleasing presence (unlike RRS)....not that I don't find them utterly repulsive (sort of like RRS,but...). The vast divisions of Musicians and technical experts behind these Avatars are largely ignored;only to appear in the background for these stadium tours,as their 'Group'.
Now we've got "AI" algorithm versions of the pop we are supposed to want to hear.So the days are definitely numbered for us Biological Units.Soon there will be no work, just leisure time but with NOTHING to do,it's all done for us.Nietzschen Artificial Intelligence has it all covered Boy's and Boys,ex-Girls ex-girls,and all those beautiful souls in transition. All part of the techno-fascist agenda, to remove anything human from the analogue planet. No sexually compatible partners ultimately leads to No Humanity.Duh!
Basically Humans will accept absolutely ANYTHING they are told to. If they are told they are a woman trapped in a Boy's body,or that Harry Styles 1.2 is good stuff, then I guess we should all accept it?!
Liam Gallagher ,after hearing the "AI" version of Oasis was heard to exclaim ,allegedly, that (he) Sounded "Mega"!?.....add the AI media suggestion that he was serious and not joking and you have the start of the replacement of biological Art...if you rate Oasis as "Art" or not?.....its cheaper and less troublesome than having the real Liam Gallagher on a contract to your global corporation.
It will get to the stage when Avatars of Avatars will be purchasing the new Oasis album from each other, leaving what room, or what use for Humans? Vulnerable biological machines that were so dumb as to design their own replacements, and then moan about it,but do precisely Nuffink.....yes another Oasis album, with Robo-Bonehead on guitar. Noel was rich and wise enough to buy his own avatar which refused to work with the singer,or Bonehead, for all eternity.
My toes curl at the idea of of an eternal Robo-Bez idiot dancing for the next billion tears, frying his MDMA chip to a frazzle....and going to Avatar Re-Hab with an interactive hologram of Kurt Cobain as his new besty to plumb new depths of the Metaverse.
I may be very WRONG, but i can't see a Robot ever coming up with anything as dysfunctional and deranged as "Stone Cold Crazy" by the HAL 9000 of underground DIY, Mr Robert Ridley-Shackleton......although he may be in big trouble, because the album title has already been used by AI robo-metal by numbers, and bastards, total fucking BASTARDS, Metallica. They'll be sending a terminator out for Robert's bollocks before too long.....maybe mine too?
So embrace the short time we have left, before all literature, all visual art, and all Music, will be created "For Us"(?) by that amazing ,'Award winning',computer program some idiotic teenager wrote in 2023....whoopeee.
Computer comedy, hows about that then? What more could you want other than a laughing my ass off emoji. "Wuthering Heights" reduced to just a single sad face emoji on a piece of A5."War and Peace",edited down to a yawning smiley face....we're bored but...we're 'Happy'.
All that gossip tech's real purpose was to test drive and develop our replacement emotions by variations on the Smiley face.
I guess I'm suggesting that there should be a new Luddite movement or such-like?....well....er...yes.....but,queue sardonic use of footballer interview technique, at the end of the day, we's a-getting what's comin' to us....Don't say i didn't tell ya so.
I'm working on a Deep-Fake version of myself to continue this blog for all eternity right now. Of course its a more handsome, and popular version de moi,but at least the idea of me will remain, post mortem....my first interview after i've gone will possibly be with Bonehead's avatar.....something to look forward to is that?...No?
Hasn't ABBA already done this shit?...here cometh the ruthless dictatorship of Bjorn Avatar and Benny Avatar, who's dream it is to cleanse the planet of us biological scum....notice how sexism survives this cyber coup d'etat.....only 'male' Avatars get to be the crimes against humanity big shots. No Agnetha and/or ...er...the other one!
As Metallica once admitted in weak moment,.... "Kill 'em All".
Twats!

Obviously I'm being more Phillip K Dick rather than Phillip K Dick'ead......but am i ?...Huh? Huuuuh?

Mousefolk – "Mousefolk" (Tea Time Records – tea time tape 1) 1989

The mouse seems to be the rodent of choice for many an indie Lo-Fi twee shoegaze group.Firstly we had The Field Mice, but this time it's the turn of "Mousefolk" ,a Bristolian quintet on the obscure Shoegaze orientated label, the very quaint Tea Time Records(hear a radio interview here!);also from Bristol I wager?
A compilation of older recordings, released on Cassette in 1989.
They seem to have nurtured the analogue fuzz very nicely, drowning out the vocals adequately enough to invoke images of these pale young boys surfing on waves of cotton wool with the pre-axelrod Electric Prunes in the fog of the Bristol channel.
This is how music sounds when you're off yer titz on Scrumpy.

Jody And The Creams – "Jody And The Creams" (Cordelia Records – Ericat 026(C) 1988

Oh Fuck!.....I just inexplicably sat through two hours worth of Mad Vlad Putin spouting endless conspiracy theories straight outta the Q-Anon phrasebook....and I paraphrase :"We (the Degenerate West) are all pedophiles in same sex marriages who defile the sacred scriptures in league with Satan, and a corrupt, but secret Elite."...even the Anglican Church got name-checked for daring to suggest that their fictional deity might not have a gender!? ...I'm sure The Chinese self-imposed leadership agrees with that. So the fate of the free world lay in the hands of the slightly crazy population of the USA.
If Trump,or an endorsed version of said cunt wins ...or even loses it seems, the next US election, we are fucked, rather than our kids, who will likely be doing a lot of the shafting;and Q-Anon and its off-shoots win. Like the 1978 remake of 'Invasion of the Bodysnatchers', they know what we're thinking because they will decide for us and ultimately replace us. The conspiracy is the Conspiracy, and Putin, himself part of an untouchable Elite,is their Pin-Up boy.
Some of it is based on fact, for example we are obviously ruled by an untouchable Elite, and have been since the dawn of history, some could even be called 'Evil'?..But i tend to be somewhat skeptical about so-called Satanic child abuse by,for example, the Clintons, and Hilaries quaffing down gallons of Baby's Blood binges in the nineties. (I like how they pop the word Satanic in there, like Christian Sexual Abuse, and there's a lot of it about, isn't so bad?)

So this calls for more indie rock escapism with some untitled cast-offs by the prototype Jody and the Creams back in '88.
I suspect that this is just Alan Jenkins, on guitar and drum machine, but maybe I do hear some Blodwyn P. Tea Bag on her organ.
It doesn't quite work without those surreal lyrics, but there is a thankfully word-less version of Peter and Gordons hit ode to suicide, "I won't Live In A World Without Love" ,which seems more relevant today than ever.....living in a world without internet crazed bigots is more on the mark methinks.
Remember what Mad Vlad said about Gay rights?.....no?....let me remind you...."We must protect the children")...chilling. Que(-anon?), the return of the Nazi's Pink Triangle which must be worn at all times.

nb:
Especially interested in what Die or DIY?'s in-house conspiracy Junkie, Sandi Hook, has to say about this in the comments section.

Jody And The Creams – "Lords Of The Gromet Canning Factory" (Cordelia Records) 1998

Two slabs of almost seamlessly segued Indie collage experimentation from Deep freeze mice relations, the Creams with Jody, before they dropped the 'Jody' part and went all full cream on us.
Eight years after the debut long player, the formula has not changed,a lump gravy collage, furtively recorded girly chat, mixed up with some funny noises and half finished art pop numbers.Featuring the farewll appearances of Ariadne Metal-Cream Pie,and Ruth 'Po!' Miller.
The charming Blodwyn P. and her Organ.

Alan Jenkins and Blodwyn P. Teabag would carry it on in the Jody-less Creams, whom I understand were almost popular at some stage?
NB:
A sense of humour is required.

Trixie's Big Red Motorbike - "All Day Long In Bliss (Singles, Demos And Peel Sessions)" 1981-85

The fairy prince and princess of twee has to be brother and sister Mark and Melanie Litten who, like many of their Twee contemporaries never got to release an album in their lifetimes.
Haling from a pre-Wet Leg Isle Of Wight ,they released their sparkly gentle pre-teen ditties on their own Lobby Ludd label....which is how my father, strangely, used to refer to Robin Hood?...I blame those Nazi's  and their prison camps and stuff i do.
Amazingly, according to Discogs, Mark Litten was something of a sound tech for Def Leppard!?.....I wonder what those clueless oafs thought of  Trixie's Big Red Motorbike,if they ever got to hear it; as the sole purpose of all this Twee stuff was to distance the wimps who made it as far away from the spotty testosterone fueled nonsense of NWOBHM as possible. I'd like to think that Lemmy would have got it,but not necessarily actually liking it....maybe not?
Where did this stuff evolve from?
I guess the earliest roots would have to be Syd Barrett's solo work, the more whimsical end of UK Psych, and Velvet Underground's third album. Then the proto-punk nerd-chic of Johnathan Richman and Talking Heads,a bit later the TV Personalities,The Raincoats, and Subway Sect, making rejection of Rock music fashionable in 1978 leading to wimps like Orange Juice,Altered Images,Marine Girls (a marine Girl,Jane Fox, actually appears on a few of these tracks),Young Marble Giants,Dolly Mixture and so-forth.
It all gets quite confusing, with a venn diagram of Twee, overlapping ShoeGaze and Dream Pop.You can find Galaxie 500, My Bloody Valentine, and The Cocteau Twins all in the same space.
However, undoubtedly,Trixie's Big Red Motorbike is firmly entrenched within the Twee area of the diagram, alongside many of the forthcoming entities we shall be visiting making music for Wimps by Wimps.
I may have spent most of my time going to Godflesh and Napalm Death gigs in 1986/7,but nearly every other band on the circuit were Twee befringed Indie pop shoegaze dreamers, which i now realise was rather good, and refreshing......then came the second summer of bloody fucking Love, and the Shoegazers picked up a tambourine and started enjoying themselves, dancing and the like!?.Tut TUT TUT!
