Unkommuniti ‎– "Ex-Oblivione" (Black Dwarf W‎rekordings – BDC 017) 1983.

Harsh noise industrial outfit that included a future member of Stereolab, Tim Gane. Not a bad racket this is too, and not a hint of Esquivel and Elevator jazz influences to be seen(although I think that would have made it even better). What an eclectic career this young man pursued eh? This is one of the self-financed C-60's released on their own Black Dwarf imprint, along with fellow Unkommuniti members The Kallous Boys. In fact it's surprisingly not too generic for an industrial recording, has some interestingly sinister moments, and some nasty noise. What more would a depressed loner require? Anyone who encourages the listener to attack McDonalds with a sledgehammer is a star in my world, and should be in yours!

Unkommuniti ‎–"Brutality Of Fact" (Black Dwarf Wreckordings bdbg1) 1984

Unkommuniti released a 'proper' record too, on 7inch black vinyl. Just as they were late coming to the Industrial Noise party, they managed to release an Industrial Percussion single at about the time everyone got sick of metal banging. But with the advantage of a 30 year distance between us and the industrial fashionista's of 1984, we can judge this record objectively. The title track, includes said Urban percussion, along with a sea of fuzz accompanying wobbly classical records; producing a rather attractive melange. The B-sides are a more subtle, percussion-less, dark ambient version of this over populated genre. Much more in the Konstruktivits strain of things. Nicely doomy.

Various Artists ‎– "Faith Will Never Die..." ( Black Dwarf ‎Wreckordings – bdc5) 1983

A Black Dwarf wreckordings compilation tape from the golden year for Industrial music, and its Zenith, 1983.Just before it got reeeeeeeeeeally boring and repetitive. Here we have a veritable rainbow of the Industrial Clichés; from nasty Noise, to some minimal synth and drum box work outs.(has anyone made an Industrial fitness work-out DVD yet? Maybe that lovely little old lady Genesis P.orridge cold knock one out for us?) There could be various Unkommuniti members lurking here under different pseudonyms I wager. An old DIY trick to make your label look more popular. I assume that Kallous Kinema is actually The Kallous Boys.....but I could be wrong.

Kallous Boys ‎– "Internal Damage" ( Black Dwarf Wreckordings ‎– BDC15) 1983

Unkommuniti members, Vincent Van Hire and Moonboy, were and still are The Kallous Boys.
To lazily quote from their porkweasel site(click here):

"Kallous Boys- Synth Geeks, BleepFreaks, Drum Machine Junkies the delectable talents of Vincent Van Hire and Moonboy. Power Electronic Pioneers with the Unkommuniti. Released Cassettes on Black Dwarf in the Eighties as part of the burgeoning Cassette Culture. Grew up to the sound of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and Delia Derbyshire. Fell in love with the sound of Sheffield, The Human League and Cabaret Voltaire. Soaked up everything from Industrial to IDM, the sounds of Berlin, Detroit and Chicago. Analogue to Digital and back to the old tools."

Definitely from the Portion Control end of Industrial Electronics are Kallous Boys.
Lots of vintage warm analogue electronica, with hints of commodore 64 game soundtracks, and a bit of Ambient for good measure.
A pleasure to listen to and surprisingly steers clear from that Noise dead end that many Industrial/Power Electronics pioneers found themselves stuck in, with nowhere to go. The Kallous Boys dare to be minimal, maybe out of necessity, but it worked. The space allows those wonderfully fat(without a 'Ph') sounds to breath without being suffocated by the boredom of extreme electronic Noise.
