Deef – "Real Control" (Mass Record) 1984

Starting with a sentiment that we can all agree on, this bunch of brutal Japanese Punk Rockers takes no prisoners, play it loud until you too become Deef.
Old Punk Rocker Heroes such as the terminally awful John Lydon, are almost as bad as their fans, and should do us all a favor and voluntarily turn themselves in at the sadly fictional local extermination camps for gobshite Rockers.
Turning from enemy of the state number one, into housewives favourite, never before have we heard such self-congratulatory verbal vomit as we have in the last decade or so from Neil Young's Punk of preference (says it all dunnit?).Unfortunately,Johnny didn't heed Neil's sadvice and proceeded to fade away rather than burn out.. Having said that I would still turn into a giggling fan boy if by some quirk of reverse indefference I should ever meet Him; He having such a deep influence on the teenage Zchivago,a nose in front of William Shatner and Steve Priest(RIP) would reduce me to a sweating nervous titter should I ever, in earth as it is in Heaven? My Dignity strewn among the wreckage of my free-falling self esteem.
Like a Doubting Thomas of the as-yet unwritten Rock'n'Roll Bible, I have often denied any knowledge of J. Rotten's existence;a Judgement mainly based the endless toe-curling clap-trap this arrogant gob-shite proudly continues to spew forth from 1981 until the present day!? And the public and the dodgier corners of the Media  take it seriously as if this Tubby Tory Tosser is some kind of populist philosopher!? Like his best mate Piers Morgen who would splash a spray of spittle soaked Sycophancy in the general direction of Rottens Arse, whilst exclaiming that he had bought "Never Mind The Bollocks" as a privately educated Yoof..When I die I would love my ashes to be scattered in Peirs Morgans' eyes.
There are similar dick-eads too numerous to list here of course, eg Cave, Geldof.....are they not the same person?....and many others, all of which should have become a noble recluse ,not unlike the Great Syd Barrett, whom I am told was one of Lydon's many influences!???
Then we have the Rebellion Festival look,of beer bellies, fading Tat's,bald heads, shorts and training shoes.Waddling to the Cockney Rejects, reminiscing about their fantasy gig list.Ahhh the night that the UK Subs came to town.
There's a youtube interview with the least stupid member of Spandau Ballet, who went to the Pistol's Screen On The Green show, like I wasn't there too. He saw the Pistol's ,aged 14,and formed Spandau Ballet the next day!?.....let's analyse that for a second? He saw the Sex Pistols and Formed Spandau Ballet? He really couldn't have been listening!?...or there at all, like the thousands who reckon they were.
One always meet these people down the pub and similar social outings, who can't wait to tell you that they're an aging "Punk"?...(If you're a Punk, mate, I certainly ain't). They talk about these fictitious gig nights like they were actually in the Band, and use words like "important" and "crucial"and how they formed a band the next day after seeing 'The Pistols'.
Well, Deef probably have beer bellies forty years on too,but as they are Japanese they're probably genetically slim still;but I'm sure they aren't still touring like The UK Subs...nobodies that irrelevant...surely?
So,"We kill all Punk Rock Heroes"....yes even Gary Kemp, the criminal who wrote "Gold"....cus' he was there you'know...and we weren't.

The Sex Pistols were another Intelligence creation. David Shayler, the “ex” British Intelligence agent, has claimed that the Sex Pistols were investigated by MI5, but that is more misdirection. It is the continuing effort to make the band look dangerous, when it was anything but. As usual it was just a couple of posing gay boys, hired to look tough, wear women's blouses, and say stupid things. Johnny Rotten has allegedly been offered a knighthood, which tells us all we need to know. That's how dangerous he is.

As for MacLaren, he admits his mother was the mistress of billionaire Charles Clore, which was probably his introduction to Intelligence. MacLaren was an early devotee of the Situationist movement, which—you guessed it—was also an Intelligence project. It was Marxist, Dadaist, and Surrealist at the same time, which means it was thrice-owned by American/British Intelligence. The Situationists were born from the Lettrist movement of Isidore Isou. Isou was a Jewish journalist during WW2, when he was probably recruited by American Intelligence working in France at the time. Isou was hired to destroy art via his hypergraphics, which, like metagraphics before it, was a purposefully garbled simulacrum of art without any content. The Situationists then continued this destruction in various other ways, pretending to be artists while creating no art. Intelligence made sure they became famous nonetheless, effectively replacing art with non-art and real artists with fake artists.

MacLaren was hired to carry this project into popular music, hiring pretty boy posers to pretend to be bad-boy musicians. It worked marvelously, as usual; and even if hadn't worked, they would have said it had worked in the press over and over until you believed other people believed it. That's the thing
about all these projects like the Sex Pistols. It is hard to say how successful they really are, or how popular. They tell you to this day that the Sex Pistols are still popular, but who knows. We are told, In 2002 Johnny Rotten was named among the 100 Greatest Britons following a UK-wide vote. Q-Magazine remarked that "somehow he's assumed the status of a national treasure.”

But of course they can fake these things, and usually do. Who voted in that UK-wide referendum? MI5 agents? And why should we believe anything Q-magazine says? Just because they say he is a national treasure doesn't mean any real person thinks he is.

@Bill you forgot to mention that Lydon himself was recruited some time in 1978 and that Metal Box was packed like that with a purpose of sending certain materials to USSR without them being exposed to any sort of harmful radiation during transport.

MI5 always seemed way cooler than the CIA.

Jonny, if you want another killer Japanese record, check out Shintaro Sugiyama's "Newton's Oblige". Dark, claustrophobic post-punk from the mid 80s, a bit like a Japanese Metal Box. Shintaro is/was a bassist and the whole album's bass lines are fantastic, kind of like JJ Burnell's solo album. Wonderful!

The notorious Grundy TV spot was not a London news magazine programme at all but rather a pilot for an adult version of 'Please Sir!' (rather as the later 'OTT' was to 'Tiswas') set in a special-needs/problem-child institution that many viewers unwittingly switched onto and took to be straight, in the manner of 1992's 'Ghostwatch'.

The press was only too happy to play along with this misunderstanding of course, with various outlets posing as pro (NME) or anti (Daily Mail) to lend credibility to the confected outrage. The success of this inadvertent psy-op can be judged from the continued obsession by everyone at BBC 6 Music and the Guardian with the fake revolution their forebears conjured from nowhere, rather as the US alt-Right credited themselves with meme-ing Trump's first term into existence.

Well us Ooop North in the midlands had no clue who the fuck Bill Grundy Was,and thought the Sex Pistols were made up from day one. They weren't shown on regional TV except for MI5 nonce ,Tony Wilson's show (Manchester doesn't count)....but we were responsible for OTT, which we all now know stands for Outside Tactics Training. Throbbing Gristle were all recruited at Public Scool, except Cosey, who was a local slag, frequently observed on Tiswas ,and used for Blackmailing politicians, and recruiting kids for Johnathan King 's pedo ring in the US Embassy in London. He's got Trump on film pissing on a kid,who was incidentally an XTC competition winner on Swap Shop.
This, and every other allegation made on this influential comments section is all true.
Ask Jonny King and Crisis Actor Jimmy Pursey....they'll tell ya everything for a bag of sweets.

Already talked about the impact Mr. Rotten made on a 12 year old me in 1977 on this here blog years ago, and Iggy Pop "destroying" the Top Pop tv studio not long after that. That really sealed the deal.... Trying to imagine myself as a little kid and having Rotten as my grandfather and I can only imagine it as loads of fun, him telling tall stories and always having time to play, might be basing that on how he took care of Ari Up when she was dying of cancer and how he took care of his ailing wife more recently, or maybe the interviews in the last few years I've seen with him, I don't know.... Cave as my grandfather? Not so good I imagine, lucky if the worst would be books thrown at me aimed at the face, screaming not to disturb him and be quiet you little weasel... First time I saw him live must've been in '83, '84 with The Birthday Party. They were really good, for the whole at most 15 minutes they played and then they just fucked off, the whole place erupting in a riot, pretty expensive tickets and all that.... Second time I saw him he was going to be the MC at the Pandora Festival in Rotterdam, got on stage, fell off the stage, they carried him away and gone for the night. Next night he did a few songs with German band Die Haut.... Never a fan of his solo work to be honest.... Hope he really got to enjoy the coronation of floppy ears recently, read an interview with him being all jubilant about the Royals and shit, the less said about it all the better....And even less about Geldof.... Or... Bo... Bo.... No, can't even say it's name.... Great story about Spandau Ballet though! Made me laugh :) How would you rate Heaven 17? For some weird reason that made me think of them....

Well, have you seen Cave's latest ernest interview on coping with Grief? ...i was almost touched. He always struck me as someone who was trying to be the people he read about....never a good idea, but it works as a business I suppose? As for the gobshite Geldof, i was always embarrassed when they appeared on Top Of The Pops,as the only representatives of Punk Rock my parents ever saw regularly...."Are these Punk ?"...to which i'd always say "NO" .....Heaven 17 I admit liking a bit in their early BEF days,as i thought this is all part of the subversive from the inside era that had nothing to do with studded leather jackets and spiky hair. I had the Numan League Records already,so a natural progression. Spandau were beyond my comprehension in a bad way....all that Futurist stuff was at least accidentally weird, Classix Nouveaux and Duran Duran......one good thing about this stuff is that none of them were Gobshites....except for Gary "Gold" Kemp who pretended to have been there in '76.....and why not? His favourite LP of all time turned out to be Fairport Convention "Leige and Lief" so he can't be that much of a Twat.

Haven't seen that interview, no... Oh man, those early punk days and the reactions to that Top Pop show and punk acts there by my dear grand parents :) Specially my grandmother who would exclaim "Monsters From The Deepest Ravines!!!" For some reason poor Ian Dury would shock her the most :) I have Heaven 17's We Don't Need That Fascist Groove Thing album in my collection, listened a bit and it's not all that bad. Not super great but not that bad lah.... And those very first Human League albums weren't bad either.... But man... The Executive Slacks! Now there was a synth band that I liked!

Jonny Zchivago said...

Executive Slacks.....big fan......of the band, Not trousers for executuves, with exceptions.I did dress as an executive for a while in the 90's. Not aware of this group at the time, but in my crate digging days i did come across them, very american Industrial Disco, like Front Line Assembly and stuff like that....very big in...er...The Netherlands!?...which is why you dig these Kats so much. A live in Europe (Netherlands) cassette is coming up, and it's your fault....enjoy.....ps I like Dare by the Human League too, the last record that lester bangs played ...probably died listening to it. Thats an interesting side discussion, persons dead and what was on their turntable when it happened.....Kurt Cobain - "REM -Automatic for the people", Ian Curtis "The Idiot" by Iggy Pop.....any other?
