This is just getting better and better, your writing I mean, I loved the Fawlty Towers clip, thank for that :) Interesting times, those, I was listening to a lot of the German stuff back then, Palais Schaumburg etc., Executive Slacks, Thirlwell (Foetus) etc. and Africa Bambaataa was listening to that stuff as well.... First record that made me go out and look for it that was really hip hop related was Big Stick's Crack Attack.... (and I still have that album) The stuff you're posting now, most of it all went right by me (although not Just Ice, I had his albums along with the Schoolly D albums)... 1982... Kinda surprised by that.... Oh and Grandmaster Flash, I had that one too back then (before It Takes A Nation when I got really into it) and I still think that The Message is THE unsurpassed hip hop song :)

I was playing that Grandmaster Flash LP the other night and i had to take a double take at the label to see if this really was GF + furious 5......great stuff.....may post it but its a bit too popular and well known.....good cover though,they look great. Yeah "The Message",as played on the John Peel Show by a guest, was my first encounter with proper Hip Hop,and very Electro it was too.

I remember listening to Peel on a radio, with very bad reception :) The bits where The Major talks about the Wogs and the Niggers was actually removed from, I think, the dvd's, put out by the BBC, crazy because the whole point was showing how idiotic racism is, but that type of humor is over most peoples heads now I suppose... I know good ol' John Cleese had quiet a fit over it....
