Muslimgauze – "Flajelata" (Limited Editions Records – LIMITED 3) 1986

The more records Muslimgauze made the more he began to sound like Holgar Czukay and Rolf Dammers “Canaxis” LP, and “My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts” by Bryne and Eno. Except they were Clever, or Stupid, enough not to repeat themselves endlessly. This paradox never troubled the ‘great minds’ of such luminaries as Jandek, Daniel Johnston, and…er…Muslimgauze. It is generally the realm of the outsider to achieve greatness by repetition.(hang on doesn’t U2 do this? ed.)
Yes, mainstream pop acts also do this through fear of losing their much needed status. But this doesn’t concern us. The reason Jandek does it is purely through some unfathomable process going on in his mind.
This is probably the case with Bryn, muslimgauze, Jones. Always the same, but reassuringly,or disturbingly, different.
Oh,and by the way, this is a pretty good Muslimgauze record!
