Cord Of Life – "Imaginary Journeys To sunset" (Mars 5) and "Winterland" (Mars 7) 1985/1986

Plenty of meditative electronic navel gazing of the Vangelis variety rather than Kraftwerk-ism’s on these two cassette releases from the mid-eighties. Even Kraftwerk were shite by then, but then again so was everything else.
I can imagine these chaps,David and Andy, playing two keyboards each at the same time. Rather like Viv Savage of Spinal Tap during ‘Big Bottom’…….”Hey,I got two hands here!”
Plenty of space references in the song titles, and lots of sustained chords, amongst the plinky plunk kosmische style melodies. Put your hands on the keyboards and move your fingers about and you pretty much end up with stuff like this.Tangerine Dream this is not. But if you like yer average bedroom Klaus Schulze wannabee’s, then this is for you.

Some info has finally come to light on some background to group member David Bennett/Greenway (from here https://adrianslatcher.wordpress.com/music-2/); Adrian Slatcher writes: " In 1982, whilst in the third year at Norton Canes Comprehensive School, Staffordshire, Adrian Slatcher formed Damn the Visual with “Dave Greenway” (David Bennett), and “Steve Lawson” (Daniel Hunt) who had previously recorded together as Hiroshima. Damn the Visual broke up before releasing anything, and in 1983 Slatcher put together a C90 cassette of their recordings (including some solo tracks) entitled “Archives:1982”."
