Various Artists – "When Things Were Perfect" (Peeved Records – PV020) 1985

More Cambridge indie pop via Southampton from a time when things seemed perfect, but on the evidence presented here, wasn't. .....which as i've mentioned several times before is a kind of perfection?
Trouble is, this nostalgia trip very accurately recreates the sound and feel of the black hole that was left behind by the great fizzle out of yer Punk Rock.
There was nothing left to populate the event horizon except a sliding slagheap of middle class studentia playing uneventful Indie-pop...the Uneventful Horizon as one calls it. With only Shoegaze,Twee, and Ron Johnson to assist in the awful choice between C-86 and Acid House.

Fiona Alexander-Etheringham here, aunty of Pip from Red Over White. That name was actually my idea back in the day, but I will not go into it now. What I wanted to say is, we are planning family gathering at Alexander-Etheringham estate next weekend and Pip would be very upset if I tell him about your rather acerbic review of this nifty little recording we all pretended to enjoy 40 years ago, so our young ones can feel well, which is, you know, important for confidence at that age.
Without further ado, I insist on removing this entry from the "blog" thing you run here. You can assume that we have very powerful ties and efficient solicitors (Ahmed Bakhlavi and sons, in the City) that can easily deal with your kind of... folk.

With regards,

Fi

hi, electric wizard link seems ok to me...its Mega NZ, its encryption qualities often play haywire with peoples operating systems. I think yolu have to sign up to solve these problems.

Hmmm... a while since I've been here, but if you're delving into late 80s insanity, have you got the appallingly brilliant Then Wallpaper tape, with its ace cover of Remember You're a Womble by The Chestwigs??!!

No Suicidal Stu, i'm ashamed to inform you that i do Not have this promisingly titled cassette.
Checking Discogs, it also seems to harbor, along with The Chestwigs, a stream of very good indeed band names
Spam 69,Crap Bus,Brain Fag being just three of 'em.
I'll get my feelers out for it, i think we all need this tape!?
