Gristle special from 1981. A veritable greatest hits package
interspersed with dated TG for beginners banter between the two
Schlock Jocks (Alex Douglas and Peter Morer)on the “Alien
Soundtracks” show based in Vancouver BC.
As radio waves travel at the speed of light,this will have travelled 33 light years by now, reaching Exoplanet UCF 1.01. So these really would be Alien Soundtracks if any lifeform out there has a radio antenna, tuned to 102.7FM, pointing towards Earth.
Nevertheless an
interesting selection of Live and studio material, that appeals to TG
veterans and TG virgins. Jesus, this sounds like a Ronco advert; but at
least this gives me a once in a lifetime opportunity to say.....”Not
available in shops!”.......but it is available here. Thankfully not
by Ronco or K-Tel,but by Die or DIY?

Aw thanks! Lately you've been posting an era I am particularly fond of, and it's fantastic to see and hear it!
The whole blog is from the same era,1979 to 1983.Probably the greatest and most inventive era of music ever. we've lived through the new renaissance of the arts,and we should feel lucky. Even though it ended years ago.
If you wanna be cutting edge now its in the gaming world,and communication. yup, lifes shit, except on this blog.
What I find fascinating about that explosion of creativity is that it actually predated the range you are mentioning. It's around 1976 that the new generation suddenly flourished in their fuzzy monochromes - CV, TH, TG, PU... There was a certain mood - an economic slowdown, first wave of de-industrialization, but also the means: smaller analog devices and cheaper ways to make noise. But does anything explain the blooming of talents?
We're talking peak period here.Of course there was stuff before and after 79/83. TG/coum and CV were doing it around73/74,as were The Residents,that was the source of the torrent to come. Its evidence of some kind of universal consciousness. We just need the same vibe now to cleanse this planet of its government once and for all.

By comparing running times of featured tracks i could calculate that it's ca 8,3 % too quick,so by slowing down the playing in audacity or something like that it will be like it was originally transmitted.
I'm curious what else will show up in this wonderful blog - keep the car running!
8.3% you say. I made it 8.25%. I altered the pitch on the IRC A and B cassettes, but never felt the need to do this one for some reason. Anyway, i prefer the TG tracks to speed by quicker, 'cus i've heard them too many times.
