:Zoviet:France: ‎– "Eostre" (Red Rhino Records ‎– REDLP 45) 1984

As is fitting in the week that France was attacked by Daesh Terrorists, killing 129+ persons, we bring you a double album of somber dark ambient doomscapes by a group with 'France' in their moniker;and I will type with a blood red font. The harsh industrial tribalism has largely disappeared by 1984,and the emphasis is far more on foggy black oceans of  radio interference, accidentally tuning in to various middle eastern transmissions,of the non-violent variety. This is ethnological simulation under the false flag of dark ambient tinged Industrialism. Not unlike the regular suspicions that every so-called Terror attack is sponsored,or allowed to happen, by certain dark forces with a sinister agenda. To spread the  Fear, to continue the constant cycle of War, and to erode liberty in the name of 'security'. The totalitarian tiptoe into a dark Orwellian future, as we voluntarily allow the remaining meager freedoms to be filed away, never to be recycled.

Definitely an appropriate week to be posting these albums, sadly. Keep up coming.

Zoviet France and Muslimgauze were two groups I always heard about in passing, but never really knew. Now I know! Thank you for posting, there's a lot of good stuff here.

So another link to another illegal download, abusing our rights and stealing our work. Please remove it.

Fair enough, though i suppose you'll want your excellent review left up? I'll remove the legal share, its the file hosting site who are doing the illegal stuff. If you don't want any new fans that's your right.Abused or not.

you'd think they'd be glad anyone was still interested...back in the day the second hand record shops of newcastle were choked with their output...now you've got to pay stupid money...the vast majority of which the 'band' won't see anyway...bad motor scooter indeed.

das boot

Yes Das boot, the vast majority of artists featured on here fully appreciate the service Blogs do for their reputation/profiles.Its rather akin to refusing Johm Peel permission to play your single back in the day. The only way one makes money from music these days is playing live....the bigger your rep/profile, the more dosh you get. Anyway, whatever, there's plenty out there who do appreciate the service.

it's always a great pleasure to read your reviews and listen to the music you share. Thank you very much.

Zoviet France is a favorite. I'm sorry to see them react this way. They obviously have the right, but considering they're on nearly every bit tracker on the planet at this point, they should indeed be grateful that you give their work some positive, interesting context. I'm not crazy about MP3s and lossy sharing, but I doubt that has any role in this request to remove the material. This is old world clashing with new world, and ignorance is one of the released particles from the explosion. Not only isn't it a good look for them, but it more than likely works against their favor from a business perspective as well. In other words, shutting you down serves no good purpose...other than declaring control. Hey, great. You're in control. Enjoy watching your work disappear into obscurity.

Well, I couldn't have put it better myself. definitely a case of no adapting to the new age involved here. The same cannot be said for all ex-members of ZF however.I suspect the complainers involve at least one original member, who wants to remain so obscure that i can't even remember his name...without scanning the information super-highway. File sharing is infact responsible for the resurgence of Live performance (ie Work), and the resurrection of many lost and forgotten artists. Something i think the "Reformed faction of Zoviet France" and "Dead Voices on Air"(both including later members of ZF) appreciates as they are constantly playing live including a US Tour.

Funny ZF are getting pissed, no one knows who they are anyways. Jonny's just sharing them with the world, they should just be glad anyone even cares about them.

I'd take it as a compliment for someone to take time out of their day to share my music.

Most artists on here do,they are usually delighted.Only had trouble from Cabaret Voltaire, Hal McGee,Crawling Chaos( check this out lol...(http://crawlingchaos.co.uk/879/goat-die-or-diy/),Psyclones,and ZF.
If you want the zf stuff i can e-mail you the links.

Jesus... is Crawling Chaos 12 years old? What an asshole.

Mason Wills said...

Thanks, but I already got the ZF links. Downloaded them before this whole situation.

BTW, a lot of artists are actually helped by this blog. There are quite a few people I ended up buying from because I liked what I heard on Die or DIY.

You said it. Some people have to wake up to the reality of 'Market Forces' in a capitalist plutocracy, and get up to speed with a modern and evolving world.Beethoven never got paid if some orchestra in Gdansk played his work, he had to write new ones,or perform. No records back then...in fact they were only really around as a viable proposition for a few decades.Things are changing again....thats life.
